Bonny Abernathy, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with 25 years of experience in the healthcare field. Throughout her career, she has developed expertise across a wide range of specialties, including endocrinology, diabetes management, dermatology, family medicine, acute care, medical-surgical care, and progressive care.

Bonny proudly served 8 years in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and brings 16 years of experience as a registered nurse, including 8 years at Mayo Clinic, where she practiced in progressive care units. During her tenure at Mayo Clinic, she served as a Charge Nurse and was recognized with the Transformational Leader Award for her leadership, clinical excellence, and dedication to high-quality patient care.

With a strong clinical foundation in dermatology, endocrinology, diabetes management, acute and chronic disease care, and weight management, Bonny emphasizes patient education and evidence-based treatment to help individuals confidently manage complex health conditions. She is known for her practical, compassionate approach and her commitment to delivering individualized care.

Outside of her professional life, Bonny loves the outdoors and enjoys spending time hiking, fishing, and boating whenever she can. Family time is a top priority, whether it’s a day on the water or a quiet evening together with her husband and their three girls. She’s also an animal lover and proud dog mom to one very loved pup, who keeps her active and smiling.
